A letter, previously transmitted through the Official messenger, has reached you, and I am now greatly delighted and pleased to learn that you are in the enjoyment of perfect happiness.
Respecting the case of the Sinan clerk, who sold passports to the fishermen, I have already written you a reply, while at the same time charging you to ascertain the truth of this affair, to know the real state of things.
A representation from the Sinan magistrate has now reached me, to the effect that Your Honorable officers have detained and imprisoned the clerk and his people. But in the treaty of peace it is expressly stated, that Englishmen, in
